
As is known, the required real estate value to apply for Turkish citizenship was reduced from 1 million US dollars (USD) to 250,000 dollars by the regulation introduced on September 18, 2018. In the Presidential Cabinet meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the increase of the minimum real estate value to 400,000 dollars for applications through real estate purchase for exceptional Turkish citizenship was discussed.
It was decided at the Cabinet meeting that the real estate value for applications for exceptional Turkish citizenship would be raised from 250,000 dollars to 400,000 dollars. The decision was published in the Official Gazette and will take effect as of June 13, 2022.
With the entry into force of the relevant regulation, foreigners who purchase real estate worth at least 400,000 US dollars (USD) or the equivalent amount in foreign currency, with a restriction in the land registry that the property cannot be sold for 3 years, will be able to acquire Turkish citizenship by Presidential Decree.
